Expecting a Miracle

Another Good Family Christian Movie
This is another good movie about love & marriage and in today's world. This movie makes a strong suggestion about "hanging in there" in a "complicated" marriage. (What loving marriages worth keeping is not somewhat complicated)?
The story brings up suggestions why a couple should remain married and not the quick and easy out because things don't go "quite right".
Again it is touched by Christian/Spirituality and interjecting a connection that belongs in a marriage rather than--"we can always get a divorce"....
Regarding the see through night gown---I played this movie in slow motion more than once and never saw the 'see through' part. I did see a woman's slip or other type of of cover up under the blue night gown. Never was there any offense to what she was wearing, nor did I see anything that a child or an adult watching this movie.

Expecting a Miracle
This is a family movie that has a wonderful message of faith and perserverence. I have recommended this movie to my friends with children.

pleasantly surprised
I didn't expect this movie to be more than a passable low-budget movie. But it exceeded my expectations in every way. The story line was well executed, as well as all of the acting. Take a chance on it, it is family friendly!

Brotherhood of Justice

RETURNING VIOLENCE WITH VIOLENCE ONLY MAKES THINGS WORSE
If you have children, this would be a very good movie to teach them a lesson with.

Talented Keanu Reeves convincingly plays Derek, a quarterback and natural born leader of a group who later call themselves "The Brotherhood of Justice." They form after a senior high school meeting led by the Principal, discusses vandalism and thefts going on at their school. He doesn't realize he is doing it, but he's really what started this "mess" in the first place.

The "revenge" begins controlled. It actually makes sense at first; but violence just grows like a brush fire. Each "punishment" by the brotherhood gets more violent. Derek, played by Keanu, calls it stops and not a second too late.

The ending is very good; parents will be proud to see justice done. I recommend you sit down and watch this entire movie with your children, explaining and answering questions as the movie progresses. There are some excellent role models to watch;...

No Ted Logan here!
Keanu Reeves really nailed down this part as a Harvard bound, high school quarterback who leads a group of vigilantes in the mid 1980s. Kieffer Sutherland also stars but has nothing much to do but steal Keanu's character's girlfriend. This movie is a must see for Keanu fans.

Old School Keanu and Keifer!
A classic old movie. Keanu Reeves and Keifer Sutherland from way back. I always liked this movie, not alot of people remember it. If your a fan of the actors, I recommend it!

Armored

A little more suspense
The classic take on what happens when people get greedy. Yeah, the movie is for the most part predictable and somewhat cliche ridden. Overall, it's not the worst movie I've seen. Good flick on a rainy day or night when nothing else is on. While it may not overwhelm you with it's storyline you at least will be entertained.....and then go on about your business!

A thoroughly disappointing and depressing story line...
Upon viewing the trailers, I waited in anticipation to see this movie. I have just seen it and the first thing I did was google the writer to see if maybe he is a wealthy personality, who once had his money stolen during an armored car transfer and maybe this script was now his closure and revenge? This movie ought to be entitled "How stupid can you be with 42 million dollars"? The subtitle should read "Why didn't you just stay home"? Some of the other reviews here talk of "predictability" in this movie. Are we reviewing the same film (Armored)? To the contrary, this movie is so depressingly unpredictable, that it breaks your heart. Some of the other reviews speak of a "great story line", only if you are some law enforcement officer with an axe to grind, I guess. One review speaks of star power at it's peak and "everyone did a bang-up job". Again, what movie did you see, because this was a complete waist of star power. I don't even know why Lawrence Fishburne accepted a script like...

Amazingly Awful Script
While the script of this movie is so full of holes that it becomes laughable, the movie does have minimal entertainment value because some of the acting and action sequences are decent. And in fact, the underlying "story" is so mindless, so shallow, and so amateurish, that these aspects become entertaining in themselves, in the "so bad that it's good" manner, reminiscent of the old Mystery Science Theatre 3000 shows. So I guess if you approach this film with low or no expectations, you will get some enjoyment out of it.

I've got some good news, and I've got some bad news . . .
But mostly good news.

However, being that the very first 'reviewer' on the scene chose to post information better suited to the discussion section (at the bottom of the product listing) into the REVIEW section instead (for which it clearly doesn't quality), you should consider this the first legitimate review of this product.

I'm not going to bother reviewing the content of the films in this set as I've already reviewed some of them, as have many others, when they appeared in earlier, similar sets from BCI/Eclipse. Reviews are plentiful for every single title in this set, and Mill Creek's various new multi-movie collections are essentially repackagings of the Crown International Pictures library they inherited from BCI. As such, there are some VERY enjoyable pictures in this set.

But this is just a basic overview of the presentation of each film within the set.

The good news is, you get EIGHT of the twelve films presented widescreen...

B Movie Fan's Rejoice Galaxina is a rare treat
I just received this set, and have only watched Superchick and Galaxina, both prints or transfers I'd give 4/5, Superchick, was about the style and kind of movie I was expecting from this set, but Galaxina such a rare treat, to have a good print of this film in my collection I feel so rich. I doubt any exceptional or unexceptional B sci-fi like this will ever go to blu ray, and will probably go out of print in the next few years. This is easily one of if not the best cheesy B scifi flicks ever, get this set!!!
I've watched a few more of the movies now, and I am happy to report Mill Creek has finally stepped up their game all the transfers are good to very good, and complete, not like their previous bargain sets poor transfers, cuts, and sound drops, also there are no annoying logos in the corner of the films :)) I'm very pleased with this set, Hustler Squad was a great flick too, nice price, great deal.

Most Spongebob Episodes Now are Stupid
Brings back memories of when I was young. First, second, third, and fourth seasons were the best until they started getting stupid. The review team must of changed everything, or ran out of funny ideas, and started making mindless gross stupid episodes such as "trenchbillys" and "Stuck in the Wringer"

Lyekka vs. Japan

Tales fm a Parallel Earth....
(First paragraph SPOILERS):
The big bugship Lexx literally comes down to earth.... or at least to an insane parody of it. During the series' storyline, Lexx has crossed between light and dark universes so many times, it's easy to lose track, in spite of the baldly stated fact that this is the "Dark Zone." Also, "Earth" (or this universe's strange version thereof) is apparently formed after the destruction of the previous season's allegory planets Fire & Water. And archenemy (Isambard) Prince was last seen falling to this Earth.

After the sheer surrealism and intense sexuality of the first "season" 's movies, the epic dramedy and friskiness of Season 2, and the relative seriousness of the shorter season 3, this final season, which operates like a second half of S3, takes yet another tone. As in S2, the universe (let alone Earth) is in danger of being invaded by voracious and hungry aliens, which include hordes of nasty little carrot-like robot-thingies. Complicating...

movie
i like watching movies and have enjoyed yours. like the imagination, like the plot and like to thank you for the story

Lexx. - Thought it was a classic
I am a big Sci-Fi fan. I routinely purchase "Made for TV" or "Made for Cable" series, so I had read and heard that LEXX was another well-accepted "classic". It ran for four years, so obviously it had a following. I found that LEXX is kind of a cross between "Farscape" and the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" genre. I guess you either like it or you don't. I really enjoyed "Farscape"..... and especially enjoyed "Firefly"..... but LEXX not so much. "Star Trek"....." Battlestar Galactica".... both very elegant and engaging series. LEXX is much more "blue collar". Some guts and gore mixed with a little female sensuality at times and very bizarre humor. When they qualify it as "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"..... yeah, I'd say that is fairly accurate. Just don't expect "elegance" in this series.

Just One Bite

She likes it
My 2 year old hacked the password on her Kindle fire and downloaded this along with about $100.00 worth of others. I locked her down and changed my password. She loves them though so I kept it for her. Plus it is her Kindle anyway so I'll have her feed the dogs for a few months and make her think she earned them.

Nephew loves it!
It certainly is a time killer! Nephew will watch on my kindle for a while (he's almost 3) if I really need to distract him.

Love it
My little one loves looking at this. I think it's funny too. I play it on his kindle and he thinks its the best thing ever. I should note he's five months and probably only sees blobs of color but he's fascinated by these blobs. We watch videos because he's been in a PICU for a while.

Tooth Fairy

I believe...
Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson dressed up as a fairy has got to be one of the more ridiculous images in recent movie history. That's just one of the things that makes Tooth Fairy hilarious. The movie is filled with witty (and sometimes corny) humor. The plot and character development also feel pretty natural. Indeed, even though the plot device of a boyfriend trying to win the love of his girlfriend's children has been used far too many times, it didn't feel stale.

Meanwhile, the toothfairy "kingdom" or whatever had a great combination of magic and sass. It's set up kind of like MI6 from James Bond - Julie Andrews even acts as the head tooth fairy. At the end of the day, it's kind of like The Santa Clause - but with wings and an attitude.

Tooth Fairy Review
TOOTH FAIRY

WRITTEN BY: Lowell Ganz, Babaloo Mandel, Joshua Sternin, Jeffrey Ventimilia, Randi Mayem Singer and Jim Piddock

DIRECTED BY: Michael Lembeck

Rated: PG
Genre: Comedy
Release Date: 22 January 2010
Review Date: 18 February 2010

Nearly all of Dwayne Johnson's movies have been enjoyable, but this is the first time he's shown talent with acting. I've gotta say, he was pretty darn good in Tooth Fairy.

Johnson plays Derek, a professional hockey player with the nickname `The Tooth Fairy' which he was given for knocking out so many teeth on the ice. It's more than annoying in movies like this, where we know the character will eventually become the tooth fairy, and for some reason they feel the need to previously deem him with a strictly on the nose...

"What If................."
I must have missed something. I considered myself lucky to have laughed a couple of times, otherwise I found myself staring at my TV screen in total disbelief. This was a comedy?

Derek Thompson (Dwayne Johnson) aka, THE tooth fairy, is a washed up hockey player who gets his kicks crushing the dreams, hopes, and aspirations of children. He steals a dollar from his girlfriend's daughter then tells her there's no tooth fairy. Everything has consequences and he soon finds himself on the bad side of the head tooth fairy, Lily (Julie Andrews). His punishment, become a real tooth fairy for two weeks. What follows is a spate of slapstick, tooth jokes, and a whole lot of nastiness on the part of this over-the-hill hockey player.
Dwayne, as Derek, spends most of the film whining, pouting, and shouting while ginning like a psychotic lunatic at the oddest of times. He looked like a maniac. And let's not forget that he got his kicks from knocking out teeth and destroying...

Iron King: The Complete Series

All Hail Iron King!
Being a fan of the Ultraman series, I was curious when it was announced that BCI had acquired the distribution rights for this rather obscure series.

Very little information was known beforehand, however, a good friend recommended I check it out.

When I did, I was thoroughly impressed by many things regarding this series. For one, it is very unique amongst similar giant hero programs released at the time. For one, there are essentially two main characters, Gentaro and Goro, who travel the country, going from town to town, protecting people and stopping the bad guys. (which has very early shades of 'Supernatural' regarding the Winchester boys, especially with the comedic bickering they share)

This works exceptionally well in that the character development is focused solely on Gentaro and Goro, as opposed to having to deal with a large government team of agents like in most Ultraman type shows.

in addition, the bad guys in question are all...

Subtitles go out of sync
I own both the BCI version and Mill Creek version of the Iron King DVD's. If you can find a copy of the BCI release I would highly recommend getting that version over the Mill Creek release. BCI is now out of business so those discs are harder to find. My reason is that the Mill Creek version is a very shoddy cheap re-release of the BCI version. The episodes are crammed onto 3 DVD's rather than the 4 dvd's in the BCI version. Normally this would not be a big deal only meaning higher compression artifacts and lower image quality however somewhere in the process Mill Creek screwed up the subtitles so that as you are watching the show they start to go out of sync with the voices. It eventually gets to the point where subtitles are appearing on the screen when there is no voice to go along with it. It's very annoying and makes watching the episodes much more difficult as you don't always know which subtitle goes with which speaker. From the price it's obvious Mill Creek's are a budget...

A rare find that's a true treasure!!!
BCI's recent release of IRON KING has become a gem in my collection just like their release of SHADOW WARRIORS season one. All 26 episodes of the complete series are spread throughout 4 DVDs. The qulity, while not remastered, is excellent. The insert- with info, bios, and interviews supplied by August Ragone -may contain spoilers but is a wonderful addition. I would have to beleive anyone would become a fan of a show that uses spies, robots, ninjas, aliens, martial-arts, and romance all in one program - AND USES THEM WELL!!! I highly recommend this series for anyone looking for something unusal and a load of fun for any age group.

At Jesus' Side

Wonderful Family Time
"My five year old daughter and I watched AT JESUS' SIDE at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival on Sunday October 26th, 2008. Not one child went to the bathroom and not one child left his seat to run up and down the aisles. Best of all you could hear the children asking their parents questions about Jesus throughout the whole movie. It was also very moving watching children and their families sharing tears of grief together during the Crucifixion and sharing tears of joy during the Resurrection. Most of the parents were joyful after the movie because they had shared that kind religious experience with their children. My child and I shared those wonderful feelings together too and the film was very entertaining as well! I highly recommend AT JESUS' SIDE for young children and their families."

True Family Fare
At Jesus Side is true family fare! We had a 4-year old, an 80-year old, and everything in between. It's a fast paced, funny, touching story of a gang of misfit animals learning the power and joy of forgiveness and redemption. We laughed and cried during the show, and at the end, you feel great! I highly recommend it.

Great Film
I first saw this on TBN and loved it and was happy that I was able to find it on here. It's a a great movie I think. It really teaches forgiveness and to love one another. Like the main character most of us have to learn to forgive and love those who hurt us even though we'd rather beat the snot out of them most of the time. It's a great movie and I can't stop watching it over and over again. It's hard to find good films like these.

Everyone Should "Be Italian"
I am a little upset with people who are fans of musicals. There isn't enough product to satisfy our desire and when a very good example of this genre is released, we stay away in droves. I simply don't understand why "Nine", the new musical, not to be confused with "9", the recent animated film from Tim Burton, s getting pretty unanimously bad critical reviews. I don't understand why fans of the genre are staying away.

Directed by Rob Marshall ("Chicago"), "Nine" is an adaptation of a very successful Broadway musical adapted from the Fellini film "8

Disgrace

A strong meditation on man's sexual drive
After having read J.M. Coetzee's complex, disturbing, shocking and controversial novel, one could not directly see how this story could be transformed into an appealing screenplay and still less into a convincing movie.
It's heavily charged with all kind of sexual contacts, unforced and forced ones (by someone who is in a dominating position) and even with pure rape. It deals also with the eventual outcome of those contacts, like pregnancy and parental love.
Moreover, the story unfolds against the violent background of open racism in a country known for its apartheid.

Steve Jacobs did a formidable job in turning the harsh and sometimes bitter and terrible realities into a moving, emotional and ultimately sublime movie, which matches the book.
The director was impressively helped by his cast and in the first place by John Malkovich, whose (physical! and mental) interpretation of the very uninviting character of a sexually driven university professor is...

High Quality Drama
An Academy Award Quality film that generates an exquisite level of emotional impact rarely seen outide of such modern classics as, "American Beauty" and "House of Sand and Fog." Without a doubt, Malkovich is convincing in his nuanced and powerful role as a scoundrel and Lothario--but with none of the histrionics or over-the-top acting for which he is perhaps best known. This is a painfully insightful and politically charged movie that will be much appreciated by discerning viewers.

Moral Ambiguity
Let me begin by saying this film may be one of the best of the past year. The performance by John Malkovich gives us another reason to extend to him a title of superb actor. And, probably no one else could fill his shoes in the film.

The film is taken from the book by Nobel laureate J.M. Coetzee. He won the Booker Prize for this novel. I have not read it and find I must. Coetzee is one of those authors you remember, and as far as I am concerned has not won the acclaim he deserves. The film takes place a few years after Apartheid. There is no longer the legal stigma of socializing or dating among the races. Malkovich is a professor of Romantic Poetry at the U of South Africa. He is arrogant, pig headed even, and thinks of no other except himself and his needs. He has an affair with a young student, and while it is not rape, she obviously does not enjoy it. He is found out and is asked to leave the university. He shows no regret except that he was found out...

Dragon Blade: The Beginning

"I've got a feeling we're not in Kansou province anymore"
"DragonBlade"'s claim of being the first full-length animated martial arts movie seems questionable (I'd think at least a few Japanese anime features could contest it), but it's at least the first 3D martial arts film ever made, having been produced a few years prior to Kung Fu Panda . With that said, it's not surprising that the latter received greater international recognition, because "DragonBlade" just can't deliver as a cumulative production. The attention paid to the martial arts aspect is evident, but the story and technology can't compete on the international market, even with features produced in the same year.

The story: Lang (voiced by Daniel Wu in the English-only version I saw) is a martial arts student whose hometown becomes besieged by a violent monster called the Boar King. To save the day and defeat the beast, he...

Falling Star

Adam Pascal is amazing!!!!
I have seen Adam perform on stage in live action productions (RENT and his own personal concerts) He is hilarious in this movie I enjoyed seeing him in another project...... If you are an Adam Pascal fan you will enjoy this movie.

falling star
As a member of a Jewish Film Committee, This is the worst movie I have review out of hundreds.
This insensitive movie has no redeeming value even as a spoof on the religious jews.
As a so called comedy, it was incredibly predictable and crass.
It is shocking that anyone but a self-serving extra would find it anything but pathetic.
I wish I could rate it less than one star; I rated it a -1 in my evaluation in my review, a rating that I shared with others.

Cute Movie
I was actually fortunate to get some feedback from Adam Pascal and while this is no "Rent" it cute in its own way. It did have moments that were amusing and to be honest I only purchased it because I wanted to hear Adam sing and was somewhat disappointed, I think he only sang one song, twice I think. But I did enjoy seeing him perform. Seems like he was doing someone a favor by being in this movie because it looks like someone just starting out in the business. The continuity of the plot and characters were off, seems like either the cutting was off or the storyline. I Will probably watch it again and if my views change, I will update this review. Although the end of the movie was a total surprise.

Buy at your own peril.
The loathsome Echo Bridge strikes again! Here's everything you need to know:

- Five single-sided discs for 37 episodes stacked on a spindle
- The discs AREN'T NUMBERED, nor do they indicate which episodes are where, nor is there an insert provided with this information. Think about this: THEY COULDN'T NUMBER THE DISCS
- At least one disc (4) has a whopping ten episodes crammed onto it! This makes no sense given the episode-to-disc ratio
- Per above, there is noticeable pixelation/image break-up whenever several objects are on the screen and for fast-moving objects
- No extras (expected)
- For one last insult, the final episode (one of the series' finest) is actually OVERSCANNED. The top and bottom of the image don't touch the screen edge and there are junk artifacts playing across the top, ala something you'd see on a bootleg or a work print. I also noticed the first episode of Season 3 has the same issue, minus the artifacts. No doubt other...

Great Season
This was a big change from the campy season before and the surreal set of movies that happened in the season one. The episodes in season 2 were like Red Dwarf. Where they seemed to bounce randomly from one spot to another, and had little in realm of a long running plot until the later seasons. Season two was a random bunch of episodes with only Mantrid and the Lexx crew binding them together.

This season not only had a long running story arc, but the humor was more subdued and focused on the surreal imagery and spiritual idealogies it presented.

The crew was shot into the dark zone after the destruction of the light zone. You find that they were stranded in an empty area with no planets nearby, and no fuel for their ship. So they go into sleep and drift until they find a decent planet. But they are found before they have a chance to wake, but a strange individual named Prince. He and his roadwarrior like lackeys take Stan prisoner and becomes interested in...

A Sci-fi adventure in 13 parts.
This third season was where I was initiated with "The Lexx." I came in completely bewildered and at the same time fascinated by what I was seeing. I consider this show to be one of the most original sci-fi programs ever created, and this third series continues that tradition with some excellent computer graphics and bizarre yet mesmerizing scenarios. What is different in this series as compared to the last is that while the second series was a collection of twenty singular episodes with a through-line plot, this third series is more like a single, long adventure story in 13 parts. There are very few moments in this series that I thought the story was meandering or losing focus of the motivations of the main characters. Also, many of the new character actors are superb. All give memorable performances, with a particularly enthralling performance from Nigel Bennett who plays the character "Prince." While the surreal, often nightmarish, story unfolds there is an underlying mystery...

Christine Evans - Amazing!
I really enjoyed this film! It's inspiring and carries a good message. There were a few mistakes in the film but considering it's more of an independent film it wasn't bad. I've been honoured to meet Christine Evans when she was doing concerts a few years ago and she's honestly one of the kindest people I've ever met. She's very talented as well. It was so interesting to see her in a movie as she's originally a music artist. The majority of the music used in the film is in fact hers. It's basically a movie about teenagers who have fallen on hard times (homeless) and help one another by providing each other with strength and believing in their dreams. Highly recommend it!

Marked

May take several viewings
To figure this one out. I didn't get what the point was of the movie until I watched it a second time. And even then I back spaced a few times so i could understand what was going on. It's presented very well, it's just a complicated plot.

So if I understand it correctly, every six years on the anniversary of the ghost's death, it has a chance to come back to life if it can claim the life of the last person who looked it in the eye as it died.

What enfolds is a complicated plot involving a sinister doctor, and various locations where this ghost is known to appear.

The cast is very appealing and handle the script well. The direction is excellent. It's just that the plot is a little too complicated to understand right off the bat. But I still liked it!

the title "Marked" is in reference to the female lead. It means she saw the killer die and she was the last person he saw as he died, therefore she was "marked" for him to use for his return.

Good movie if you have Insomnia....
Okay so I figured I would rent it just to give it a shot and needless to say thank goodness I rented and didn't buy. It was okay, cheesy at times and pretty predictable. Great to watch if you need something to fall asleep to.

The Spectacular Spider-Man: Volume Eight

Spectacular ending to an amazing animated series
Definitely the best out of the 8 incredible volumes. The ep's included in this volume are on another level from just about any other animated show out there. I really liked the 90's Spiderman cartoon, but the ending of the Spectacular Spiderman series (contained in vol. 8) puts it well ahead of the earlier incarnation. The phrase "Do yourself a favor" is so over-used on these reviews, but this time its warranted. Do yourself a favor and check this out. Find out what a masterpiece of animated entertainment Spectacular Spidey volume 8 truly is.

The Best Spider-Man Cartoons Since 1966
ALL episodes in this Spectacular Spider-Man animated series are absolutely The Best Spider-Man cartoons and stories since the 1966 Amazing Spider-Man IN COLOR cartoons!!

Season 1 was well... Spectacular! Season 2 was highly anticipated and DID NOT DISAPPOINT - equally Spectacular!!

The ONLY disappointment is that there is NO Season 3 or more!! What is it with Disney - the new owners of Marvel!? This entire series deserves more and more seasons!

The retelling of the early Spider-Man stories with totally modern twists was a stroke of genius! With all the material having been written in the Classic Comic Books how could Disney cancel this series!!??

Then again Disney did the same thing with their equally ground breaking reinterpretation of Iron Man with their Iron Man Armor Adventures - BUT that is another sad story for for an equally fantastic series!! What's worse they left us with a cliff hanger!! What really happened to Tony Stark...

Spectacular Spider-Man
Loved the Spectacular Spider-Man series. Characters were well developed and story lines were pretty good too. Wish the series would have lasted longer

Assassination/Messenger Of Death/Mechanic

Incomplete
Unless I happened to get a bum copy, which is possible I guess, the first movie in this 3-movie set is missing a half hour! The Mechanic is only about 68 minutes long and the missing part is from about the time they begin to stalk the three motorcyclists. The phone rings and then there's a sudden jump to Italy near the end of the movie, just before a car chase. Renders the copy of the movie worthless. I don't know if it somehow has to do with them cramming THREE feature length movies onto one single disc or what... Just beware.

replacements for the bad copies
As you can see there was a manufactoring error on this disc. THE MECHANIC was about 30 minutes short. I went to the TGG site and emailed them. They are aware of the problem and have made new ones. You send them your address and they will mail you a replacement copy. I received mine today.

They were very good about this.

So, let's thank them publicly for standing behind their product, and for this great 3-movie DVD!!!

Single-disc version. THE MECHANIC runs short by a half-hour
As the other reviewer noted, THE MECHANIC is incomplete by a half hour, with a drastic cut - the leads are in a darkroom and then suddenly in the middle of a car chase. I haven't watched the other films yet. I contacted TGG inquiring about a replacement but haven't received a response.

UPDATE - received a nice reply from TGG saying there was a manufacturing error in the dvd and they would mail out a replacement.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (Single-Disc Edition)

Blu-ray: Hilarious and fun for the entire family! Solid PQ, lossless audio
When Ross Bagdasarian Sr. created the Alvin and the Chipmunks, I often wonder if he knew at the time of how popular those characters, their music and the animated series would be for American pop culture.

Popular for the music, it was in 1961 when the three went from being puppets to an animated show. Bagdasarian using his stage name Dave Seville, the music composer and father/caretaker of three talented chipmunks who tend to get into a little mischief. The animated series "Alvin and the Chipmunks" is one of those animated series that has been part of the childhood of several generations. An even more animated series continued throughout the '80s and '90s.

And as "Alvin and the Chipmunks has been a part of the childhood of children for five decades, for this generation of children, they are now getting acquainted by Alvin, Simon and Theodore through their animated CG films. And what a remarkable success the first film had been for Twentieth Century Fox as...

A FUN SQEAKQUEL THAT ADULTS CAN ENJOY WITH THEIR KIDS!
With all the kid films that are unbearable for adults, it's nice to find films that you can watch with your children and actually enjoy! Both the original and this sequel are just such films. The stories are cute, but not so dumb-ed down that you can't stay interested in them. The chipmunks are adorable and they are funny with fantastic CGI work. This one isn't quite as good as the first film(what sequels are?), but it is certainly a very fun movie for the whole family. Too bad Jason Lee phoned this one in, it was certainly worth his time. I give this one 3 stars for adults and 4 stars for the kids!

The Chipmunks are Back
I am almost thirteen years old, and, even though it seems like a childish movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel was fun for me, and even my parents.
This movie is about teamwork and working together. It also teaches you that the good guys always win, and that evil gets you nowhere in life. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore (the Chipmunks), start school, but they don't start pre-k or 1st grade. They start high school. To these furry little animals, getting though an eight hour day is a fight for survival.
That's not the only story in this movie. At the same time, three new chipmunks find their way to Hollywood. Brittney, Eleanor, and Janet call themselves the Chipettes, and they want a career in the music business like the Chipmunks. Unfortunately, they wind up working for the Chipmunks mean, selfish ex-producer, Ian Hawke. These two groups are set against each other by Ian, but, in the end, the Chipmunks and the Chipettes team up together against him. Like I said, the...

Comedy Parade - Rediscovered Classics: What Ho Romeo (1929) / Dental Follies (1937) / Rhythm In A Night Court (1934) / Hotel Anchovy (1934) / The Memory Lingers On (1935)

58 minutes of bizarre comedies. Not necessarily funny, but definitely novel.
This collection features some bizarre comedy shorts, mostly from Educational Pictures (these are not school films). For those who don't know, Educational Pictures intended to make educational films for schools, but without success there they ventured into making very low budget theatrical comedy shorts.
It you are looking for true classic comedies, look elsewhere.
These are of interest more for their rare unusual situations than their quality of comedy. Mercifully all but "Hotel Anchovy" are only 10 minutes long or less, keeping them as novelties.
This also includes a short called "The Memory Lingers On" which features silent newsreel clips from WWI on. This could be the most worthwhile film in this collection.

1930 "What Ho, Romeo" is a bland Jack Benny short. Not really a short at all, this is a 9 minute Home Movie excerpt from the bland Public Domain (widely available) 66 minute feature "The Medicine Man". And when you watch it, you will notice that...

Shorter than expected, but fun
I didn't realize the Jack Benny film was quite as short as it turned out to be. I think there may have been some missing parts, but even so, it was fun to see him look like he was even less than 39 years old!

The other shorts were interesting. The Ritz Brothers are amusing - very physical, even more so than the Marx Brothers. And I'm surprised Pinky Lee didn't become even more popular than he did!

Fascinating that somehow most of these were call "educational!" The only one that approached that classification was "The Memory Lingers On."

All rather corny, but a nice view of a different time!

love it
yup... i love the movie but i Love the Ritz Brothers... i think they are the greatest... they really make me laugh...so it dosen't matter what movie they are in the movie will always be good to me...

Annie (SE, Anniversary Edition)/Annie: A Royal Adventure

Who Wouldn't Love Annie???
The '80s "Annie" is so great. My whole fam --ages 2, 6, and 10.... boys too-- love it.

The 2nd "Annie" uhhhh... different story. Some of the kids might love it? But I wouldn't pay extra to have it.

THIS MUST HAVE BEEN MADE WITH JUST KIDS IN MIND...
BECAUSE ONLY THEY WOULD ENJOY IT IN FULLSCREEN.I loved the original Annie movie when I was a kid but I had never seen Annie: A Royal Adventure.I seen this product at a local discount store and I was all ready to buy it,until I found out that it was in fullscreen.I have seen another double feature with these exact same movies in fullscreen released in 2005.It must have sold well because they released it again, and here it is,also in fullscreen.I love SONY double features because they are usually two separate discs that were in the solo releases.I have bought many SONY double features with adult movies that were in widescreen or in both wide and fullscreen.KIDS GROWUP AND BECOME ADULTS and some of those might enjoy to see it as it was seen in the theater(widescreen). It just doesn't stop with this SONY double feature product,I have seen another double feature of Matilda/Pippi Longstockings, and they were both in,guess what...you guessed it,fullscreen.WHAT'S UP WITH THAT SONY?

Grandaughter loved this!

Blame It On Rio / The Women In Red (Comedy Double Feature)

See "Blame it on Rio" for Michelle Johnson and Demi Moore
"Blame it on Rio" is a visually stunning movie for the on-location filming in Rio, and for the astonishing beauty of Michelle Johnson and Demi Moore. Michelle is only 18 or 19 at the time of filming; Demi Moore is two or three years older. You will see an ample amount of topless beauties, not only from these young ladies but from the beach scenes. Michelle is perfect in her role. Too bad that Demi had a much smaller role. She was good. The topper is that this is actually a good, funny movie. There are plenty of genuine laughs as the plot unfolds. Michael Caine, Joseph Bologna, and Valerie Harper are all perfectly cast. The plot concerns the seduction of Caine by Michelle Johnson.

"The Woman in Red" is a puzzling movie. It involves Gene Wilder, happily married, yet trying to arrange an affair with a beautiful woman in red. The slapstick situations and humor just did not cut it for me, although I did have a laugh or two.

There are no extras in the DVD,...

Enhanced for Widescreens!
You've seen reviews of the movies, so here's a review of the DVD. I was pleased to discover that both movies use anamorphic widescreen, even though it sells for such a low price. I rate it a 5, even though it has no special features, because it's well worth the price. The picture quality is about as good as possible without going to blu-ray.

WRONG description
The description for this DVD is TOTALLY wrong. The description is for an Abbott and Costello double feature called Jack and the Beanstalk/Africa Screams. The DVD Blame It on Rio & Women in Red is for a STRONG R rated comedy DVD containing nudity and adult language and situations. The description needs to be changed immediatly lest an unsuspecting customer orders the item and receives something they did not intend to get.

Under the Red Robe

Great movie, terrible DVD
Do not buy this DVD, video quality and sound make it almost unwatchable. Having said that, the story is a hidden gem. Witty dialogue, superb acting by Conradt Veidt and Annabella. I will try to see if the other version by Reel screen videos is any better,

Fine Film, So-So DVD
I've purchased two DVD editions of "Under the Red Robe" from Amazon: This Alpha Video version, and the Synergy Entertainment one. Both leave something to be desired.

The film transfer on the two DVDs is equally dark, and far softer than even a 1937 film should be. The soundtrack for both is scratchy and noisy, making the dialogue often difficult, though not impossible, to hear.

Oddly, the Alpha Video version replaces the soundtrack for the opening titles with a rather cheesy score. The proper soundtrack commences after the titles. The Synergy Archive Series edition has the full soundtrack, but their DVD lacks any chapter indexes, or even a menu!

I actually got better video quality, and no-worse audio, by purchasing a $5 used 1987 VHS copy by United American Video Corp (through Amazon) and transferring it to DVD.

All that said, this is a wonderful film and is well-worth viewing, even with only these unfortunate choices to choose among...

Under the Red Robe (Reel Classic Films)
I am actually loath to give This DVD even ONE STAR but one is compelled to do so. This arrived on Saturday 14 November so my sister and I thought we were in for a treat over the weekend to view a film we had not seen for many years and we both are Conrad Veidt Fans. What we saw was a travesty, the orignal film was in Full frame but this had been adjusted to widescreen so the actors were looking somewhat squat; added to which the sound was appalling - there was so much background noise you could barely hear the dialogue. After 45 minutes of this torture we turned it off. This is one destined for the garbage can. I also noted the plastic case was flimsy and cracked so it didn't close properly. All in all a pretty poor affair and this Company ought to be taken to task for foisting such rubbish on unsuspecting customers. Over the past five years my sister and I have purchased a few hundred DVDs from Amazon UK and US and have had no complaints and have been very impressed with the...

Seabiscuit

The Little Horse that Could
The term "feel-good movie" is, like "popcorn flick" and "chick flick," one of those sweeping and usually inaccurate generalizations that are used to color any number of superficially similar films. If the definition is stretched broadly enough, "feel-good" can be used to describe anything from Chariots of Fire to My Big Fat Greek Wedding. In the summer of 2003, however, there were two movies for which "feel-good" was both accurate and complimentary. One was Bend it Like Beckham. The other was Seabiscuit.

For those not familiar with the story, Seabiscuit was a famous racehorse of the Depression era, competing between 1936 and 1940. His career is chronicled in the marvelous book Seabiscuit: An American Legend by Laura Hillenbrand. Hillenbrand's lengthy, detail-rich narrative is, like many great books, too complex to transfer note for note to film, but writer-director Gary Ross takes on the formidable challenge of bringing Seabiscuit's tale to life on the big screen. Ross wisely...

A long shot becomes a legend
In the middle of a summer of bad sequels "Seabiscuit" came along as a bit of fresh air. No other film this year thus far has been filled with such emotion, beauty, and heart. "Seabiscuit" is a rare gem of a film. It does not rely on special-effects, explosions, or cheap romances. The beauty of this film is that it is simply about the pure heart of a horse and the people around him.

Writer/Director Gary Ross (Pleasantville, Big) adapted Laura Hillenbrand's painstakingly researched bestseller into an amazing script. The story itself is so extraordinary that, if it hadn't happened, wouldn't have been remotely plausible as a film. If Seabiscuit wasn't a real horse, I would have taken one look at this film and said "Ridiculous! Like that could really happen!" The fact that the story is true makes "Seabiscuit" an even more beautiful and emotional journey.

Tobey Maguire plays Red Pollard, a half-blind, oversized jockey who was abandoned by his family as a child and now rides the...

Seabiscuit .. an American Legend
I never read the Laura Hillebrand book by the same name, but I did see the Seabiscuit movie and let me tell you - it was phenominal! I know some say it was cliche - but the story is TRUE! It's not just some Hollywood writer trying to come up with the latest feel good animal movie, it's actually true.

The acting was amazing in the movie. Tobey Macguire did a great job as alcholic jockey Red Pollard, and Chris Cooper was outstanding as the horse-whisperer-like trainer Tom Smith. Jeff Bridges (who is not one of my favorite actors) did a decent job in his role as well. One of the funniest characters was William H. Macy's announcer during the races, he cracked me up! Another surprisingly good performance was real life pro jockey Gary Stevens playing Red Pollard's friend and rival, jockey George Woolf.

The story is wonderful, taking place during the 1930's when the country is reeling from the Great Depression. Jeff Bridges character, Charles Howard, is a business man whose wife...

Africa In Flames

historical artifact
I am glad that this film exists as an historical artifact of early efforts to satisfy audiences' interest in "exotic" peoples and places. And maybe some of the images are even realistic for the times. It is a basically a black and white "silent-style" film with narration instead of subtitles -- not surprising for the 1930 (1948re-release) date. It claims to be ethnography, explained by the voice of an authority, but it does not go deep at all by more recent standards. It is more like motion-film-snapshots of their lives.

Frankly, however, few people will want to watch this. I am going to imagine perhaps those with an interest in the history of film in the broad sense, or in the history of films about Africa, an interest in "ethnographic" film depictions (say e.g. along with Nanook of the North) and representations of "primitive" people in cinema (these people are apparently Islam-icized herdsmen, I would guess from their robes and names, and have metal spears etc.). Then...

Good if you view it through the appropriate lens of the time
Even viewed through the lens of understanding how Africans were portrayed in the late 1920's, this "documentary" still has some weaknesses. However, if you factor in how sub-Saharan Africans were depicted in other venues, then this one stands up reasonably well. They are depicted as having intelligence and culture, not as mindless and simple savages.
The video was filmed in the small Habbania town of Buram in Southern Sudan, stars the actual people of the village and was first released in 1930. It depicts them in their daily lives, the dangers from predators as well as some of their ceremonies. The title of the video is taken from the main event, a prairie fire that forces the villagers to flee across a river.
While the video is narrated, it is not of the high quality that was seen in later "talkies" If you are experienced in the history of film then you could come close to dating it by realizing that it was made in the transition from silent films to the days when the art...

iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx

Another entertaining and solid DVD release for fans of the Nickelodeon hit show "iCarly"!
Since 2007, "iCarly" has been a popular series for Nickelodeon. The series revolves around Carly Shay (played by Miranda Cosgrove) and her best friend Samantha Puckett (played by Jennette McCurdy) who are the host of their popular web show "iCarly" which is edited and directed by Freddie Benson (played by Nathan Kress). Most of the scenes are shot at the home of Carly, who lives with her older brother and legal guardian, Spencer (played by Jerry Trainor).

Created and executive produced by Dan Schneider (creator of series "Drake & Josh", "Zoey 101', "Kenan & Kel", "All That", "The Amanda Show"), "iCarly" is currently on their third season and on January 18, 2010, an episode titled "iSaved Your Life" became the highest rated live action telecast in Nickelodeon history (with 11.2 million viewers) and the #1 telecast of all TV (cable and broadcast) that night.

Needless to say, the show is a big success for the cable network and now "iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx" is...

iWant This DVD!!!
The Reason Why They Are Coming Out With This Is because iCarly Season Two Had TOO MANY hour long movies so they put some on here so they would not have to make like three volumes for iCarly Season Two!This Set Includes "iDate A Bad Boy" and "iFight Shelby Marx" and possibly more!So do not think that these episodes are going to be on "iCarly,Season Two,Volume Two"!

Great Series
My daughter and I have a lot of fun watching this series. We went on vacation into the wilderness away from TV and internet service. She brought this along for the evenings. It was just like being home when this was on. We really enjoyed it. It's one of the most tolerable teen shows from an adult point of view. In fact, I actually enjoy it.

Can't Hardly Wait and The New Guy were geared for teenagers whenever I was in high school. They take me back to my high school days, and that's the main reason I purchased them. They're definitely fun to watch, and it's also fun to watch actors when they were young and still learning :)

Very funny, but endearing too.

The Blind Side (Rental Ready)

Sandra Bullock finally shows us how good she can be
My wife and I just went to a double-feature. I picked AVATAR and she picked THE BLIND SIDE. Now, there couldn't be two movies on a different plateau than AVATAR and BLIND SIDE, but I'm so glad that she brought me to see this movie. AVATAR, I gave 4 stars, BLIND SIDE, 5 stars. BLIND SIDE, for what it was, was flawless.

With BLIND SIDE, the story tells itself, because it's the true story of 2009 Baltimore Ravens Right Tackle Michael Oher, or possibly Michael Williams, or maybe something else, and his improbable escape from oblivion with the love and care of a rich white family in Memphis, Tennessee. Michael Oher's greatness, first showed up in his size and athletic potential and then in his courage to forget and go forward. Michael Oher, a kid who struggled at basic study skills and education, but scored a 98% in protective instincts. A tribute to his lifestyle and his ability to survive, homeless, with two shirts, a pain on his face that couldn't be explained...

A true story that will move you.
I go to see movies all the time while they are still in release.

At this time of year we have high profile movie offerings like A Christmas Story, New Moon (same vampires), and the world coming to an end with 2012. So. it's easy for this movie to get lost in the shuffle.

It would have been so easy to miss this movie, and such a mistake to do so. For, this is one of the best movies of the year, and one of the few I recommend whole heartedly.

Sandra Bullock gives probably the best performance of her career, playing Leigh Anne Tuohy, a tough business like mom, who sees big Mike, a young oversized kid who never had a role model, and who never did well academically, because he had no reason to believe in himself. He is the underdog we love to root for.

The Tuohys take him in to their plush house, and we get drawn into the experience, perhaps sucked into this story might be a more apt description. Yet Mike has a hidden gift which others like...

A Cinderella story - football style!
Every so often a movie comes along that is well-deserving of all of the hype that is allocated to it. This is one such movie. In short, it ranks as one of the greatest sports movies ever made - not the least of which due to the fact that it is based on the true story of Michael Oher.

One of the more notable aspects of this film is just how little of it takes place on the football field. This is a movie about Michael Oher the person more than it is Micheal Oher the football player. In spite of being about 6'8 & > 300lbs, we find Oher to be someone who is as uniquely human as the rest of us. People who automatically believe that sports movies = zero plot will be quite surprised after giving this one a viewing.

Likewise, very little focus is on Oher's HS football team. It shows them winning from time to time & it shows Michael holding the league championship trophy. However, the other players on the team only have bit parts and we know very little about...

Eight Millimeter/8MM 2

cross between a mystery and a horror film
Both of these films are well made if a little long in places. Unfathomably it seem to need the longer time to get the whole story across in both films. These two are not for the kiddies or most wives as they both depict the "Snuff Films" of the 50's and 60's. A lot of men won't care much for them either. Nicolas Cage does an excellent job as a private detective trying to find out if the girl in the film was actually killed? They are both exciting as cage is drawn deeper and deeper into the L.A. society behind it all. A must see for Cage fans.

DVD's in great condition.
Thank you for a quick shipment and the DVD was in great condition, no flaws. Thank you 8MM is a great twisted movie of how sick people can be with extreme S&M snuff films, but how true it is. I loved it.! ha! Havent seen 8MM 2 but i doubt it is as good as the first.

Splitting Heirs

Even non-python lovers will enjoy this one....
You may not fall down on the floor laughing at this movie, but you undoubtly will have a smile on your face the whole time. Idle is a stock broker (or something financial like that, the exact job is sort of skipped over...)who was raised by a family of Hindus, and then finds he was adopted by them and he is the rightful heir to the dukedom belonging to his friend and boss Rick Moranis...The beautiful Barbara Hershey (a blonde here) is Idle's real mother, the even more beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones is Moranis fiancee, (and Idle's one night stand..)in one of her early appearances... and John Cleese is the shifty lawyer who decides to help Idle regain his rightful heritage by killing everyone who stands in the way...(but why does the movie,in the opening credits say "introducing John Cleese"?) Fans of the Monty Python comedy troupe will enjoy it of course, but so will those of us who aren't major fans of theirs... As I said, not a hilarous movie, but one worth watching ....

Not the best movie...but still pretty good!
It was a little dull at some parts but also exciting at others. The comedy's okay, has a nice ending. Catherine Zeta-Jones delivers, as usual!

The only British Comedy I like
Most British comedies can only be enjoyed after being drunk on Port. This one is hilarious. Many of the greatest comedy one-liners of all time is in this movie. Renting it, or better yet BUYING it, is a must.

Yanks

A sweet, sad movie about people in wartime
My husband and I have watched Yanks many times on VHS. I am glad to see that it is finally available on DVD. Every time I watch this movie I marvel at the small touches that bring this era to life, from the tiny grocers shop with lines to the boredom of the men in the barracks.

All the actors have a freshness in their roles. I don't know if Richard Gere every played a more grounded, real character. Vanessa Redgrave has a bittersweet role as the married woman who enjoys a dalliance with dashing American William Devane.

From the arrival of the soldiers until their departure for the the D-day invasion, the movie sweeps through the changes wrought on the lives of English and Americans. The stories of the various characters intertwine, and it is not until the end that we realize how interconnected they hae become.

IN LOVE AND WAR
John Schleshinger's YANKS is more a slice of life, character study. Heavy on atmosphere, which is done quite nicely, and buoyed by good performances, the movie is low key, but resilient with the feelings of the British and the Yanks during this crucial time in WWII. Richard Gere is very good as Matt, the sensitive, polite soldier who finds himself falling for English shopkeeper Lisa Eichhorn, but is afraid of the commitment once the relationship becomes serious. Eichhorn is beautiful and parlays that fragile beauty into a sympathetic and engaging character. The movie's other romantic duo isn't given as much screen time, but Vanessa Redgrave does a marvelous job as the Red Cross volunteer who is becoming close to dashing William Devane. Redgrave's skills as a character actress enable her to bring more depth into the role than was written. Two other performances of note are Rachel Roberts as Eichhorn's mother and Wendy Morgan as the bus steward who ends up marrying one of the...

View the Power of the essence of Love.......
Wow, I don't know where to begin. I always wondered where the days went, when a man would kiss a woman and she would lift her leg behind her. As a man who is married with two young kids, I found this movie to be beyond romantic. I pursued my wife in college with the same vigor as Matt (Richard Gere) pursued Jean (Lisa Eichhorn). In an odd kind of way my wife resembles Jean, a naive beautiful woman whom I decided that I could not live without. As a self-proclaimed romantic and one regularly read Frost, this movie captured my heart. I can't stop talking about the subtlness of the love between Matt and Jean. Also, I found Helen (Vanessa Redgrave) and John (William Devane) to be absoulety devine, their story touched my soul. Specifically, toward the end while she was in the church. The ending of this movie is a marvel, I can only hope that it is nominated or re-nominated for an Oscar... Thank you Matt, Jean, Helen, and John, thank you for allowing Love to be so...

"Stone Cold" Enters The World Of Underground Fighting
Steve Austin plays John Brickner, an ex-convict who was serving time for murder. John was able to be released thanks to a letter sent in by the wife of the man he killed, Veronica, only to find out that she had an alterior motive...for him to get money need for a heart transplant for her daughter. Unfortunally with John not being able to get the money with the two jobs he currently has, he meets up with his a co-worker Frankie & her friend Reno to go into the world of "no holds barred" underground fighting. John must keep fighting & winning in order to keep making the money while dealing with the pressure being put on him by Veronica & her personal problems, Reno oweing money to everyone they seem to do business with, and everything taking it's physical & emotional toll on him.

This was wasn't your basic one dimentional action movie as they were able to tell more than one story as each of the main characters did have an issue to overcome. The acting was good & Steve...

Steve just keeps getting better and better.
This movie takes Stone Cold to a new level as an actor. Normally we see Steve play the same kind of character who is nothing more than an ass kicker. But in this film we see a new side to Steve, along with very good action we also get to see a solid acting performance. The film is a hard-edged, bare-knuckles fight film that focuses on the tough choices people make in times of recession. Along with the acting the movie has great music scores that blend very well with the film. One problem i have with this dvd is that they didn't add any extra features not even a commentary. I would of love to see some behind the scenes footage and also would of liked to hear a commentary done by Stone Cold, giving us a bit of a backstory on the film. All of that would've been epic. But 20th Century Fox just dropped the ball on this one. The only things it has are a few trailers and a spanish track and possibly another dubbed track but i cant remember. Even though it lacks on extra features this movie...

steve austin kicks butt here too
great movie with stone cold and it was a pretty good plot too. action thru out and even some sad parts for you drama freeks.well worth the rental price, but would recommend buying this video.

Four Corners of Suburbia

Talky introspective little indie
Five people come together at a Maine vacation cottage for a short getaway and complications ensue. The married couple is on the verge of a breakup because they were never right for each other and the man has met someone new. Meanwhile, another couple of seemingly happy yuppies are really not so happy after all, and they break up right in the middle of things, with the guy sent home. That leaves the fifth wheel, who is the brother of the married guy. Their relationship is close but troubled. There's no action in this movie, only very long scenes of self-absorbed dialogue. It's a relationship piece. Some of the scenes are set at night, and they are extremely dark, probably because the budget was so low they could not afford decent set lighting. This is a pleasant little diversion, but not for action junkies.

Blood Work

Forty-three years older
For those of us Clint Eastwood fans who remember him as the young and headstrong Rowdy Yates in the TV series RAWHIDE (1959-1966), going to see the latest Eastwood Big Screen epic is a sobering reminder that time catches up to us all.

In BLOOD WORK, Clint plays Terry McCaleb, a high profile FBI agent who suffers a severe heart attack while chasing (on foot) a vicious serial killer who leaves taunting messages for McCaleb at the crime scene. Terry finds that climbing over fences just isn't as easy at is used to be, but then a Clint Eastwood character in the old days would've just stood back and shot the perp down at long range with his .44 Magnum. Oh, well. In any case, it's now two years later and Terry is just off a heart transplant and retired to his boat. Graciella (Wanda De Jesus) shows up to request that McCaleb get back in harness to investigate the death of her sister, who was murdered in a convenience store holdup. McCaleb at first demurs, but then has a change of heart, so...

A more than solid Eastwood vehicle
We all know good 'ol Clint isn't getting any younger, and he knows that himself which is part of what makes Blood Work as good as it is. Eastwood plays an FBI agent drawn out of retirement to find a serial killer which Eastwood had a heart attack chasing. What develops is a game of cat & mouse between Eastwood and the killer, culminating in a stunning revelation and an ending similar to that of another Eastwood starring/directing effort; In the Line of Fire. Blood Work is a smart, intelligent thriller and a throwbacl to the days when movies didn't have to rely on anemic storylines and bloated special effects to get going. Sadly though, Blood Work will most likely go ignored by audiences while overblown, mindless action pics like XXX rake in the millions. Still though, you should really give Blood Work a try, it's a real gem.

Good Work
There is a masked hold-up artist/killer on the loose, and the police believe the cold-hearted criminal to be selecting the locations purposefully, and that his victims are just unlucky, random individuals. Retired FBI agent Terry McCaleb thinks that it is the *locations* which are random, and that the killer's victims are very, very specific. Will his wisdom prevail? That is one of the interesting plot elements in "Blood Work", the 20th movie starring Clint Eastwood that he has also directed.

Eastwood plays McCaleb, a gritty man with a gentle streak, who was forced into retirement after suffering a heart attack while chasing a serial killer on his last case. Two years later, McCaleb receives a new heart, and the serial killer is still at-large. Terry McCaleb is Eastwood playing his age. We know that this man used to possess solid physical strength, but age has diminished that strength, so now he is left to rely almost solely on his keen intellect. That intellect does not fail him,...

UFC Rampage Greatest Hits

great
Shipping was so fast best shippig ive seen and the dvd is awesome and if your a huge rampage fan like me then get it its really worth it .. makes you wanna fight.

I like it
pretty good to have if you're a rampage fan or just want to see fights from a fighter who is always trying to knock someone's head off no matter who they are or what time it is. lol

Not a complete history
For Rampage die hard fans, this purchase will be a no brainer...

However, if you're looking for a complete history of Rampage I would suggest you steer clear of purchasing this item. While it does show some of his greatest victories, it shows NONE of his defeats. Missing are his first two battles with Wanderlei, Rua, and his loss to Griffin. Great matches, but not matches that he would like to remember since he lost...fair enough, but I would rather spend my money on something with a more complete history of the man then this.

Quality - his latest UFC fights look great, while obviously his earlier fights in Pride aren't as high video quality

Disaster Zone: Volcano in New York

LAVA IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING
Yep, that's right...a volcanic eruption in NYC is the premise for this hokey but mildly diverting disaster flick. Seems like nasty doctor Michael Ironside is trying to develop a source of geothermal energy and doing so he starts a volcanic rift under the Big Apple. Dedicated tunnel worker Costas Mandylor is the first to discover the lava flow but of course no one believes him. Enter Alexandra Paul as his geologist ex-wife who is called in to find out what's going on. The FBI is certain it's the work of terrorists, while a high city official is secretly funding Ironside's experiment.

The movie is nowhere as intense as the earlier VOLCANO, as it's pending doom never seems large scale enough for a good disaster movie, and the effects aren't that impressive.

Diverting entertainment for fans of the genre.

THAT ONE STAR REALLY MEANS NEGATIVE 1
JESUS HELP ME! THIS MOVIE WAS SO CORNY, I SHOULD FIND THE DIRECTOR AND PUT HIM IN JAIL! WHAT MAKES THIS MOVIE SO EWW, THEY DIDN'T EVEN FILM THE MOVIE IN NEW YORK! ALL THEY DID WAS SHOW A LITTLE BIT OF FOOTAGE OF A EVERYDAY NEW YORK STREET, THEN IT WILL CUT OFF QUICKLY OF THE NEW YORK STREET AND HAVE THE CHARACTERS STANDING IN BUILDINGS! WHEN THEY DID SHOW THE VOLCANO ERUPTING IT SHOWED PEOPLE RUNNING AROUND IN A CITY THAT LOOKED LIKE BOSTON OR PHILLY! PLUS WHEN THEY SHOWED THE CHARACTERS STANDING OUT SIDE OF THIS NOT NEW YORK STREETS THEY HAD POLICE SIRENS GOING OFF IN THE BACK GROUND THE WHOLE TIME! TAKE IT FROM ME PEOPLE I LIVE IN BROOKLYN, YOU DON'T HEAR SIRENS LIKE THAT ALL DAY! PLEASE DO NOT BUY OR RENT THIS GARBAGE!

"There's A Lady Present....Lady? I'm A Sand Hog!"
This is one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of really, really bad films. The premise is simple: a crazy scientist and an evil mayoral contender conspire to drill for geothermal energy under Manhattan, releasing a volcano under the city. In the process it's up to a group of tunnel diggers to drain the lava into the city sewer system.

Along the way we get a lesson on "sand hog" etiquette ("You gotta' earn that title, sweetheart!"), we see gratuitous intestinal spillage, and we see the romance of the lead sand hog and the brilliant geologist, Dr. Foxley, rekindled. Do not miss her emotion-packed dialogue: at one point she thanks her ex-husband by saying "Thank you former spouse". Yes, she really says that.

The film has the most ridiculous looking CGI effects in a recent production, and has perhaps the most spectacularly improbable cause-and-effect villain death in all movie history. (Think bullets and lava.) During the course of the...

Bare Knuckles

female fighting movie
as an avid female fight fan i was very excited when this movie came out the storyline is very good and the fight scenes are quite brutal , no messing about here, although the fight scenes could have been longer but all in all a very good movie and a rare treat for female fight fans.

Jeanette Roxborough can act.
I purchased a few female fight movies;some with actors who have been around and others new in front of the camera.Of the last three I purchased,I enjoyed Bare Knucles the best.Jeanette has been around awhile as a stunt person but not so much in front;especially as the lead. Not only can she appear to fight well but she can geniuely act.I look forward to any other movie she does as an actor.I compared this movie to one called Honeybee and the other called The Opponent.HoneyBee is from 2001 but that really isn't any reason for such poor acting and weak storyline. The only selling point would be the blonde in the bedroom if that's what you expect in an action film.Jeanette's strong acting and better than expected storylind did not requied nudity to sell the film. The other was The Opponent starring Erika Eleniak.I guess this suppose to show-off her acting abilities and down play her phyical attributes. It truly missed the mark. The storyline was also weak as was her acting. For me,she cannot...

Fun action movie
The fight scenes are as good as any Mortal Kombat or Cynthia Rothrock film, but a lot more Mona(Baby Doll Riley) and a lot less of Samantha's creepy daughter would have been nice. SSSHHHEEE'S OOOUUUTTT!!!

The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting

Floundering and unnecessary sequel to a classic
Upon first look at the Hitcher 2, your first question will simply be, why? Why was this direct to video sequel to an 80's horror/suspense classic even green lighted? Who knows, but it shouldn't have been. Despite some relatively good stretches, for the most part the Hitcher 2, which retreads on the plot of the original, is a routine and predictable pot boiler. An older C. Thomas Howell returns as Jim, who is now a troubled cop trying to put his past behind him and go away for a little R&R with his girlfriend (Kari Wuhrer). Eventually, they come across a hitcher (Jake Busey) whom they pick up, and well, you know where this is going. Busey is good as a murdering psychopath who may or may not be Rutger Hauer's character from the original film, but Howell looks so bored in his brief return as Jim, and Wuhrer's acting abilities are wasted leaving her as eye candy (which isn't such a bad thing). The police force is presented here as ignorant hillbillies, a stereotype which the...

Drive on. There's nothing to see here.
With what seems like the most unnecessary sequel in recent cinema history, THE HITCHER 2: I'VE BEEN WAITING is ''finally'' here. Coming from out of nowhere, this film not only doesn't need to be made, but actually succeeds in making you know that it doesn't need to be made.

The story picks up years after the first movie closed, as Jim Halsey (played by C.Thomas Howell, who has grown up to resemble a rejected member of Motley Crue) is still haunted by the nightmare that was Rutger Hauer. He is now a veteran cop, undergoing serious stress and anxiety. In an effort to get his life back on track, he seeks out his police mentor buddy (Jeffrey DeMunn's character from the original, here played by someone else). However, to get to him, he must travel down that same stretch of road from the original movie, where he first encountered Hauer's malevolent villain.

En route, he takes his girlfriend Maggie (Kari Wuhrer in serious direct-to-video fatigue), who is blissfully unaware of Jim's past...

SEQUEL?
Face it people, this is not T2 or The Godfather Part II, and why is there a sequel to the hitcher anyway? The first "The Hitcher" was a classic movie which was a perfect reimagining of Steven Speilberg's classic DUEL. There was no need for a sequel. The story was told, nothing more to tell. A sequel? Dragonheart fell victim for this. A sequel will just tell the story all over again. Not even C. Thomas Howell could save this movie from being a failure. All in all, not entertaining and unnecessary. Not recomended.
